Penalty points will be dished out for 14 more traffic offences from today.
Points will be given to learner drivers who are unaccompanied or who don't display their N plates.
More points will be doled out for 9 existing offences including dangerous overtaking or breaking a red light.
Last year saw the first increase in road deaths in Ireland for several years, with 190 people losing their lives.
