Seven people have been arrested in Balbriggan as part of an operation targetting criminals using motorways to escape.
Several agencies including traffic gardai, customs officers and reps from the taxi regulator office were involved.
The checkpoints were set up as part of operation Thor which is to target gangs using the motorway network to escape after crimes.
They took place in the Balbriggan/M1 area between 2am and midnight on Sunday.
Over 100 vehicles were searched and some counterfeit goods and suspected stolen property inlcuding power tools, found.
Seven people were arrested for Road Traffic offences while 8 cars were seized.
A total of ten offences were detected by the Taxi Regulator's Office who examined over 150 cabs.
