Four people including a Garda have been injured during a carjacking in the city.

At around 3.40pm a man in his 60s was assaulted as he loaded the boot of a car at Dublin Airport.

A man who jumped into the vehicle then knocked down another man in his 50s, who had run to help the victim.

Airport police raised the alarm and a car was stopped a short time later on the Ballymun Road.

A garda in his 30s was injured as he tried to apprehend the suspect.

He was taken to Blanchardstown hospital where he's been treated for minor wounds.

The man who's car was stolen has been treated for facial injuries at Beaumont Hospital.

Gardai at Ballymun station arrested a 24 year old man in relation to the incident - he will appear in court this morning.
