There have been 259 new cases of coronavirus reported in Ireland today.

The five-day moving average now stands at 327 - a further drop compared to recent days.

The latest figures from the HSE show there are 76 COVID-19 patients being treated in Irish hospitals.

27 of those patients are in intensive care.

More than 3.1 million vaccines have now been administered in Ireland - with around 55% of the adult population having received one dose, and over a quarter now fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, health officials have today released the latest figures on cases reported in different age cohorts.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said outbreaks have been “almost eliminated” in fully vaccinated cohorts, including people aged over 65.

The figures show the incidence rate is highest among the 19-24 age group, followed by children and teenagers.
