The annual report from the Simon Community shows there's now double the amount of people living in emergency accommodation compared to this time last year.
The charity says 5 thousand people will spend Christmas in shelters, including 15 hundred children.
It also claims it has seen a 20 per cent rise in demand for its services with almost 7 and a half thousand people currently relying on its help.
A mixture of spiraling rents and a shortage of affordable housing is being blamed for the problem.
