The deadline to register to take part in the first ever Team Dublin Clean Up is this evening.

Dublin City Council is encouraging people all over the city to help spruce up their local area in time for the Easter Rising Centenary Commemorations.

City Council officials are hoping that 10 thousand Dubliners will sign up to help out for two hours on Easter Saturday.

Brian Hanney from the Council says they won’t have to worry about clean-up equipment.

“We’re going to provide all the materials, hi-vis jackets, litter pickers, gloves and it’s just going to be for two hours on Easter Saturday and we’re looking for as many people to come out and be proud of their city and help get rid of litter.”

At the launch of Team Dublin Clean-up were students from St. Brigid’s School in the Coombe who said it’s important for us to be proud of our city because “if tourists come , we want them to think our city is clean, and it’s important to keep our city clean because we love our city”.

If you’re interested in helping out, you can register on www.teamdublincleanup.ie
