Over 16 thousand square metres of buildings are set to be redeveloped at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
The project has been described as 'the largest ever redevelopment of a cultural institution' by the government.
It'll see the expansion of the main auditorium and the remodelling of an old medical library as a rehearsal hall for the National Symphony Orchestra.
Seating and stage capacity will also be increased in the main auditorium to allow for more performers and spectators.
It's been described as a move towards 'future-proofing' the historical buildings for generations to come.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says the redevelopment will enable the concert hall to "fulfil its purpose as a living space for music."
He added the new build will allow for "lifelong enjoyment, connection and participation in music."
Arts Minister Catherine Martin described it as a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" for the cultural life of the State.
The project is included in the National Development Plan and is being led by the National Concert Hall and the Office of Public Works.
