One of the biggest comedies of the early noughties is making a comeback!

A sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story is officially in the works and word has it that Vince Vaughan is signed on already.

Vince Vaughn played the lead role in the 2004 film, following the story of a small community gym owner who has to fight to keep his gym from being taken over by a corporate gym chain, run by the hilarious White Goodman (played by Ben Stiller)

Dodgeball: A True Underdog story is one of the fondly remembered comedies of the early 2000s, featuring the classic frat pack cast of Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn, as well as Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Gary Cole and Jason Bateman.

Now, Dodgeball 2 is all set to be developed by 20th Century Studios.

Nothing is confirmed yet only we know Vince Vaughn is on board and Jordan VanDina has signed on as the writer.

According to Deadline, the script for the sequel will be based on an idea Vaughn had to continue his character Pete LaFleur's storyline.

In an interview to The Hollywood Reporter one time, Vaughn spoke about the idea he had for Dodgeball 2.

He said that he ‘had an idea that was fun and the studio likes it’.

Even though Ben Stiller hasn't been confirmed for the sequel, he seems to be aware of Vince's idea for the sequel.

“I think Ben is open to doing it, I think he's in the same boat as me actually which is if it's a really fun and great idea then that's fun, but if it's just something to go do it again then why?

“You would just want to make sure going into Dodgeball that it feels like a nice continuation and a story that could stand on its own.”
