10 Reasons Why You Need To See 'Batman V Superman'

One of the most highly anticipated films of the year, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is finally out on Friday. Directed by Zach Snyder, the film starring Oscar winner Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, will be released in Ireland in 3D, 2D, and IMAX 3D on March 25th.

98FM got to see the movie yesterday. Here’s 10 reasons why you need to get to the cinema this weekend.         

It’s The Start Of The Justice League

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ marks the start of the Justice League Film Series, which will feature Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) along with Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in their respective films.

Wonder Woman and Justice League Part One, due to be released in 2017, will follow 2013’s Man Of Steel, Batman v  Superman, and Suicide Squad (out in August). The Flash, and Aquaman are both out in 2018.

Ben Affleck Creates A Brilliant Batman

Affleck does a great job creating the duel Wayne/Batman character. His Caped Crusader is weary, angry and frustrated after battling criminals in Gotham for the past 20 years and he’s still an absolute ride.

Henry Cavill’s Superman Is Strong & Sensitive

Cavill’s Man of Steel swoops in and saves the day several times and shows Superman’s sensitive side in the film.

Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor Slays

Jesse Eisenberg is an incredible Lex Luthor. At the European premiere in London last night, Eisenberg revealed he based the legendary comic book character on his friends that ''act like villains''.

 ''He's a very authentic villain. He's a guy who in private is a tortured and an increasingly dangerous guy ...

''I took my inspiration from people I know that act like villains. They know who they are.''

Wonder Woman Kicks Ass On The Big Screen

Israeli actress Gal Gadot brings this comic book heroine to the big screen for the first time and she doesn’t disappoint. Speaking in a recent interview with Ynetnews, Gadot described Wonder Woman as ‘strong and serious’.

“She has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She know tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious Woman.”

Amy Adams Is A Fierce & Fearless Lois Lane

Amy plays the fearless and forthright Pulitzer Prizing-winning journalist reporting for Metropolis’s Daily Planet, Lois Lane repeatedly risks life and limb to get her story—all while keeping the story of a lifetime to herself: the identity of Superman. 

The Batmobile Is Slick

Production designer Patrick Tatopoulos recently revealed it took 5 months for them to build two fully working cars.

There’s A New Alfred 

Jeremy Irons steps into the DC Universe as Alfred Pennyworth, the confidante to Affleck’s Bruce Wayne. Alfred raised Bruce from a young age and is a strong moral compass for the Caped Crusader.

Irons’ Alfred is harder and more tech savy than the recent version played by Michael Caine in Christopher Nolan’s Batman films.

Irons recently spoke to the Irish Examiner about the role:

“In this futuristic world of mayhem I wanted to make an Alfred who was very practical, multitalented and yet very earthbound.”

Holly Hunter Shines As Senator Finch

The Oscar-winning actress’ convincing portrayal of Senator Finch really stands out.

The New Batman Gadgets Are Deadly

The new Batman gadgets are so cool that even Ben Affleck tried to take some of them home from set as a keepsake fromthe film. According to The Mirror, the 43-year-old revealed he was found out by production crew who made the Dark Knight give them back.
