Man (40s) Dies After Dublin Road Crash

A cyclist who was seriously injured in a crash in Kinsealy has died.

The man in his 40s was brought to Beaumont Hospital has since been pronounced dead.

His bike and a car collided shortly before half 9 this morning on the Malahide Road.

The Malahide Rd is currently closed as Gardaí carry out a technical exam, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have dash cam footage of the area this morning to come forward.

In a statement Gardaí said:

"Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a bicycle and a car that occurred shortly before 9:30am on Sunday 18th February 2024 on the Malahide Road at Kinsealy in Dublin 17. The cyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital with serious injuries. He has since been pronounced deceased. No other serious injuries to persons was reported. The Malahide Road at Kinsealy is currently closed and the services of Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested. Local diversions are in place. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the Malahide Road in the Kinsealy area between 9am and 9:30am are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station on 01 6664200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
