Labour Senator Aodhan O'Riordan has hit out at Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. He says he doesn't understand the level of hurt in the Dublin 17 area after 3 murders.

Leo Varadkar was criticised after he said he was going to visit north Dublin "as soon as he can find a little bit of time."

There's calls to do more in the area in the wake of 3 gangland murders in the space of a week.

Labour Senator Aodhan O'Riordan said: 'If 3 murders happened in a different part of the city there would be a more immediate response.

'I don't think he understands the level of hurt that these things cause and I don't think he understands the impact it has on school children.

'I don't think he understands the level of impact it has on a community.

'I would have welcomed if he had said immediately that he was going to seek out community group, talk to the Gardai.

'I want a Mulvey report.

'Flippant comments like that just make people believe that he just doesn't genuinely care as much as he should.'

A 41 year old man and two 22 year olds were killed in three separate attacks in the capital.

The latest fatality occurred when Hamid Sanambar was shot dead outside the home of one of the other victims on Kilbarron Avenue in Coolock on Wednesday afternoon.
