Fully vaccinated Irish people can travel to the US from today.

International travel restrictions banning non-US citizens from entering the states during the pandemic are being lifted today, after 21 months.

Non-US air travellers will need to show proof of vaccination before boarding a flight, and will need to show proof of a recent negative Covid-19 test.

Jenny Coleman from Dublin lives in California and had a baby in August, who hasn't met any of her family. She decided to take a chance and book flights for her parents to fly out to her on November 9th, before the date was announced for borders to reopen to non-US citizens.

"We were very lucky when they announced the date as the 8th of November. They're coming over to meet our first daughter, we're very excited that they'll get to meet Freya very soon".

Jenny's younger sister also had a baby during the pandemic, which was the first grandchild for the family.

"It's been kind of a weird year being pregnant without seeing any of my family. My younger sister had her first baby in March. We're very close and that ws the craziest thing both going through our first pregnancies and not seeing each other at all."
