Frank Lampard has dropped out of the race to become the next Norwich City manager.

The former Chelsea and Derby boss held talks with the club's owners this week.

The 43-year-old, who is currently in Dubai, has been out of management since being sacked by Chelsea in January of this year.

It was reported at the time that Lampard's departure was heavily influenced by disagreements with the club's transfer policy.

It's understood former Aston Villa manager Dean Smith, who was sacked last weekend, has also been in discussion with the Canaries.

The club's bosses feel he would be an ideal fit for them as he has Premier League and EFL Championship experience.

He also has an in-depth knowledge of their squad and playing style, as well as an understanding of the culture they want.

The Canaries are bottom of the Premier League table after collecting just five points from their first 11 games since returning to the top flight.

Their first game back after the international break will be at home to Southampton on Saturday 20th November.
