The sister of a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend told his sentence hearing today that he had blown out her family’s ‘brightest light’.

Sean Nolan, of Ashington Crescent, Navan Road, Dublin, was handed the mandatory life sentence today for murdering Amanda Carroll in 2018.

Amanda met Sean Nolan on Tinder just four months before he took her life. His trial heard he strangled her to death after a heavy drinking session.

He said he just wanted to shut her up after she called him by her ex-boyfriend’s name and told him she didn’t love him anymore.

Amanda’s 16 year old son found her lifeless body in her bed the following morning.

Nolan claimed he was too drunk to form the requisite intention for murder, but the jury disagreed by majority verdict.

Amanda’s sister Sandra turned to face him in the dock today as she delivered her victim impact statement. "May God have no mercy on your soul," she said.

She called him a monster as he was being led away, and told him to rot in hell.
