Enable to take on Anthony Van Dyck and Crystal Ocean at Ascot

Trainer John Gosden says his star mare Enable is in peak condition ahead of Saturday's King George VI And Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot.

She'll be looking to become just the third-ever horse to win the race on two different occasions.

The dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine landed the spoils in 2017 but didn't defend her title last summer.

She'll face Crystal Ocean and Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck in this weekend's showpiece and Gosden says Enable is in good following a run in the Coral Eclipse at Sandown.

"At Sandown I thought she ran a lovely race.

"Frankie Dettori popped himself in the correct position, and she probably won with a little bit in hand.

"The Eclipse is close enough, but you are getting three weeks. We've been pleased with her since then, and she has just done routine work.

"She worked on Saturday with Frankie on her. We were going to go on the grass - but we didn't get enough rain, so we breezed on the all-weather.

"She seems happy and well for what is a tall order."

Champion trainer Aidan O'Brien has also confirmed that Anthony Van Dyck will run on Saturday.

"The plan is to run Anthony Van Dyck on Saturday – we're happy with him. Sovereign, who won the Irish Derby, is on a break and won't be running and neither will Magical, who is also on a break," he told The Racing Post.

"Hunting Horn, Magic Wand and Norway are all entered and are possible runners, although we won't be finalising plans until later in the week."
