Dundalk drew 1-1 with Qarabag in their Champions League second qualifying round first at Oriel Park last night, keeping alive their chances of reaching the group stages.

Mahir Emreli gave the Azerbaijani champions a fourth-minute lead when his header from Jaime Romero's corner deflected off Patrick Hoban past Gary Rogers in the Lilywhites goal.

Hoban equalised for the double winners with a header 12 minutes from the end.

The home side had a chance to win it in injury time but Dane Massey scooped the ball over the bar from close range.

The return leg is in Azerbaijan next Wednesday.

Celtic already have one foot in the third qualifying round.

Ryan Christie scored twice in a 5-nil hammering of Estonian champions Nomme Kalju at Parkhead.
