Dundalk have confirmed that assistant manager Alan Reynolds has left Oriel Park after only 10 weeks at the club.

The 46-year-old joined Vinny Perth's coaching team in June after spending three-and-a-half years with Waterford but the Lilywhites sacked Perth last month.

The reigning SSE Airtricity League Premier Division champions have since appointed Italian pair Filippo Giovagnoli and Giuseppe Rossi as their management team.

Reynolds was appointed assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team in July to work under Jim Crawford and alongside John O'Shea.

First-team coach John Gill announced his departure from Dundalk last week, with the club confirming that news on Wednesday.

Gill led the Lilywhites to promotion in 2008 and returned to the club as first-team coach at the start of the 2019 season.

In a statement, Dundalk thanked both men: "Everybody at Oriel Park would like to thank ‘Giller’ for the hard work, dedication and loyalty he has shown Dundalk FC over the past two decades.

"He was a very popular figure at the club and we wish him well in the future.

"We would like to thank Alan for his short stint at Oriel Park and wish him well, both with the U21 national squad and in the future."
