300 cyclists from the Willow Wheelers Cycling Club Chairman are pedalling 100 miles from Dublin today to help the people of the third world.

They'll cycle from Blackrock College to Kinnegad in County Westmeath and then back to the capital.

The Willow Wheelers, established in 1989 by Christy McDaid, is made up largely of current and past students from Willow Park School and Blackrock College.

Following two years of virtual cycles, participants are back on the roads, raising funds for water, health and education projects in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.

Club Chairman, Christy McDaid says it's an important fundraiser:

"Today's cycle is the 33rd cycle 100-mile cycle by the Willow Wheelers Cycling Club.  We raise funds each year to be spent on projects that we support in the third world. "
