Parts of Dublin showed signs of improvement in the Irish Business Against Litter Survey for 2022.

Dublin City Centre rose from 'heavily littered' to 'moderately littered' in the latest survey.

Dublin's North Inner City, which was labelled as a 'litter blackspot' in 2021, improved slightly to just 'littered'.

A new entry, Dublin Airport Environs, placed towards the top of the list and was deemed to be 'clean to European norms'.

However, the Irish Business Against Litter Award for 2022 has gone to Naas in County Kildare for the second year running.

Kilkenny and Maynooth took second and third place respectively while Mahon in Cork was voted the most untidy of 40 surveyed.

Waterford was deemed the tidiest City just ahead of Galway.

Conor Horgan of Irish Business Against Litter says Naas has set a high standard for others to reach.

"Naas have achieved a consistency here which should serve as a model for others."

"We've every reason to think that the positive result that we've seen this morning will be replicated in years to come."
