A Dublin businessman says he's thinking of leaving the city because of an increase in crime.

Ronan Rogerson, who owns bars in the City Centre and Smithfield, says he no longer feels safe in the capital.

There has been a number of assaults on tourists in Dublin in recent weeks.

Ronan says he was walking his dogs along the Grand Canal when he was attacked:

"I got attacked by a gang of teenagers. About 15-20 teenagers started shooting rockets [fireworks] at me and I was petrified... I was hiding behind a car".

He goes on to say how he now understands why a lot of people don't feel safe.

He says Gardaí "are doing their best" but he knows despite the report he filed, those responsible wouldn't be punished.
