The area covered by the Dublin 4 postcode is home to just six International Protection applicants being accommodated by the State.

In the capital, there are 7,772 applicants being accommodated.

According to The Irish Times, 21,387 International Protection applicants are being housed by the International Protection Accommodation Services nationally.

The figures were provided by the Minister for Integration, Roderic O’Gorman.

Labour Leader Ivana Bacik has suggested the former Jury's Hotel and the former Baggot Street Hospital as places to house asylum seekers.

"I've been urging Minister O'Gorman to put into use, come large empty premises' in Dublin 4 for provision of accommodation for people seeking refuge here... I think it's essential we do that".
