Bus drivers at Go Ahead Ireland, which operates 30 routes across Dublin, are to be balloted for industrial action from today.

SIPTU is looking for a pay increase for it's members to offset the cost of living crisis.

The union says the ballot is being undertaken after the company failed to engage with it over pay.

SIPTU Organiser, Fran McDonnell, says they wrote to management looking for a meeting;

"Unfortunately, management chose not to engage with us on this matter. The issue was then referred to the conciliation services of the WRC. We have now been advised that management have refused an invitation from the WRC to attend conciliation talks."

He says they have been left with no other choice but that they remain available to enter negotiations.
