Scarlet for Jimmy Kimmel tbh

You might have seen this doing the rounds on Twitter yesterday. Ahead of the Oscars, SNL did a sketch about the event's red carpet and took the opportunity to take a dig at Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson (and well, the entire country) when they mocked their "incomprehensible" accents.

Many Twitter replied with their criticism of the insensitive sketch. Drag Queen Panti Bliss replied with "What the absolute fuck is this??" and Derry Girls creator Lisa Magee quote-tweeting the sketch with a simple "Yes this fine 🤦"

On the night Colin Farrell was approached by the the show's host, Jimmy Kimmel, and asked a 'fan question' as part of a bit.

In the awkward interaction, Kimmel said the fan wanted to know what Farrell was saying during Banshees of Inisherin. Again, with the jokes about the incomprensible accents? Come on guys.

Colin Farrell gracefully took this opportunity to reference the SNL sketch that had aired the night before.

"I'd like him to go on YouTube and check out the SNL skit from last night."

A quiet nod to his thoughts on the sketch without explicitly stating his thoughts - a classy move from Colin as usual! He put Jimmy in his box 😂

If you haven't seen the SNL sketch yet, you're certainly not missing out on much. They let themselves down badly on that one!
