"Superbowl is one thing. New music is another thing"
Rihanna wants us to know that just because she's playing the Superbowl Halftime Show doesn't mean a new album is on the way.
Speaking on the red carpet of her recent Fenty x Savage fashion show, the singer said "I knew, the second that I announced [the Superbowl] I said, ‘Oh my God, they’re gonna think my album is coming, I need to get to work.'"
"But I do have new music coming out" she reassured. "We'll see".
It seems she's still being very cryptic about what we can expect from her in the next few months!
The reporter quipped that she "obviously" wouldn't have agreed to do the Superbowl halftime show if she didn't have new music in works.
Rihanna explained her reasons for doing arguably the biggest music event in the US after a 6-year hiatus from singing.
“Nothing would have gotten me out of the house if it wasn’t a challenge like that,” she said by way of explanation. “You could get real comfortable being at home as a mom, [so this is] challenging myself to do something that I’ve never done before in my career."
Rihanna released her first new song in 6-years last month as part of the new Black Panther movie soundtrack.
To be honest, she sounds to us like she's mad to get back to making songs again, she's probably missed it!
