We can't say we blame him!

Paul Mescal has admitted that he wants to avoid super fame so he can live the life of a normal person.

The 27-year-old shot to fame in 2020 for his role as Connell in Normal People, and his star has only been on the rise he continues to secure roles in successful films.

He cemented his place as Hollywood royalty llast year when he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Aftersun and he'll soon be the face of the new Gladiator film coming out later this year.

He spoke to The Times about Gladiator 2 where he hoped that his life wouldn't be too different once the movie comes out.

"I don’t know what the difference will be. Maybe that’s naïve? Is it just that more people will stop you in the street?"

He added:  'I’d get profoundly depressed if that’s so and hope it isn’t true. I’ll have an answer next year, but if [the film Gladiator 2] impacts my life in that way, I’ll be in a bad spot."

He went on to talk about the desire to maintain some anonymity when he's out and about.

"I don’t want to close myself off to going out and meeting someone in a bar, or getting drunk at a party. That would turn me into a boring human."

The internet went wild recently with bizarre rumours that Paul was going for walks the day after meeting women in bars before running away from them.

This is the world we live in! Let's hope Paul and his team manage to keep him protected as his fame soars.
