Ed Sheeran has welcomed his first child

Ed Sheeran has announced that he and his wife Cherry have had a baby girl.

The singer took to Instagram to share the news, revealing her name is Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

To reveal the news the Shape Of You singer shared a picture of baby socks.

He wrote: 'Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you...'

'Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.'

He also said they are both over the moon and would like to ask for privacy at this time.
