The availability of rental properties in Dublin has hit an all time low, according to the latest Daft.ie report.

Nationwide there were just 1,460 homes available to rent on November 1st. That's the lowest amount since Daft began tracking availability in January 2006.

There was just 820 properties available to rent in the capital on the same date. It's half the amount that was available on November 1st of last year and the first time, since Daft began its dataset, that the rental stock in the capital has dropped below 1,000.

Rents have increased by 6.7% nationwide. The trend of rents rising faster outside the big cities appears to be continuing.

In Dublin rents are up by 2.7%. However counties such as Mayo, Roscommon and Leitrim  saw a 20% increase.
