Michael Kinsella of Tallaght denies killing Adel Essalhi just over three years ago.

On Jan 6 2011, Mr Essalhi had been drinking at a pub on Parnell Street when he met Wayne Kinsella and his girlfriend.

After spending several hours together, they went back to the couple's apartment for a party.

Several others, including Wayne's nephew Michael, were also there.

The prosecution believes Mr. Essalhi was lured from the apartment after the Kinsella's got it into their heads he was involved in the death of a relative.

The victim's body and a machete, believed to be one of two murder weapons, was found two days later in a field behind the apartment.

A post mortem exam revealed that he had been beaten and stabbed to death.

It's alleged the men returned to the scene the day after the murder and that Michael tried to dispose of the body by setting it alight.
