Chief Executive David Slevin insists that patients aren’t being put at risk because of overcrowding.
They have had to cancel elective surgery and day cases because a spike in the number of people attending their A&E has put pressure on wards.
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore says that there are concerns with the number of nursing staff in the emergency department but additional staff is being recruited.
Unions and Management at the hospital are meeting tomorrow to discuss the problem.
