Man Avoids Jail Over Queen Visit Riot

A Dublin man has avoided a jail term for his part in a riot during Queen Elizabeth's historic visit to Ireland.

Michael Tyrell of Dorset Street Lower was among a group of protestors who clashed with Gardai at the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Square.

He was sentenced to two and a half years behind bars today but that was suspended in full on condition he keep the peace for that period.
