Tens of thousands of people are expected to turn out in Dublin this weekend for the annual Pride Parade.

Samaritans volunteers will be on hand to provide face-to-face emotional support for attendees around the city.

Volunteers will be available in the Capel Street and Parliament Street area from 9pm on Friday, 29th June though to the early hours of Saturday morning and from 2pm on Saturday until early Sunday. They will also be around the Smithfield area when the parade finishes on Saturday.

The street service will compliment the charity's round the clock telephone helpline service.

Speaking about the announcement, Theresa Potter from Samaritans said: "We are providing a unique opportunity this weekend in Dublin for anyone in need of emotional support to talk to our trained volunteers. We encourage anyone who may be feeling even a little down to come and talk to us."
