Friends and family of a child who has been diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy have organised a gig to raise money to fund treatment.

Fionn Jones was born more than 5 weeks premature and with cleft lip and palate which meant his situation was even more complicated.

Following further tests, Fionn was diagnosied with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. It is a very serious and disability which makes his limbs stiff and body weak. It makes it impossible for Fionn to walk, dress or use the bathroom independently.

A piece on the website FionnsJourney reads "The cost of the surgery, the specialist equipment needed after surgery and postoperative therapies is €100,000. My parents are trying to raise this money so that I can have the surgery and get a chance to reach my full potential so that I can be more like other children of my age."

"It is a lot to ask but with your help it would be life changing for me and my parents."

Fionn's family hope an upcoming procedure in the U.S. will be the last he needs. The treatment is expected to cost €100,000.

A charity gig - including performances from Mary Byrne and other cats - will be held in Opium on June 20. All proceeds will go towards covering the cost of Fionn's treatment.

You can find out more about the gig and buy tickets here.
