To make your job a tiny bit easier, we've compiled a list of the best family friendly events taking place in Dublin over the next month. 

Dublin's Medieval Story

Discover Dublin’s Medieval Story. Learn of warfare, crime and punishment. Smell the aromas and learn to play medieval games at our fair. Walk along a cramped street and learn about Dublin's curfew!

Discover Dublin’s Medieval Story in Dublinia. Learn of warfare, crime and punishment from 700 years ago. Smell the spicy aromas and learn to play medieval games at our fair, as well as walking along a bustling medieval street – don’t forget to give the beggar some change!

GENEius Little Stories

When: 26th August
Where: Irish Family History Centre, Custom House Quay.
Cost: €5

This Heritage Week at the Irish Family History Centre we’re celebrating all of our stories from across the world! Come along to our arts and crafts party and tell your story. We’ll be getting creative, making fingerprint family trees on canvas, and trying on some time-travelling costumes!

Pre-Booking is mandatory for this event as spaces are limited.

Suitable for children of all ages.

Rocket Recall Workshop

When: 28th August
Where: DSPCA, Rathfarnham
Cost: €45

Are you finding that it’s successful at home or in the park when there are no other dogs around, but not so good when there’s competition for your dog’s attention?

This fun family friendly workshop will give you the tools and introduce you to a number of techniques to build a more solid recall against a wide variety of distractions!

Secret Garden Saturdays: The Ark Aviary

Become part of The Ark flock in this bird mask making workshop. You will use paper and natural mixed media to create your own distinct bird mask. Birds come in all shapes and sizes and colours

National Heritage Week

Where: All over Dublin

Our Family Friendly National Heritage Week Pick is:

Totally Terrific Tomato Festival

When: 18th - 26th August
Where: National Botanic Gardens
Cost: Free

An exhibition of tomato cultivars and their relatives - tobacco, potatoes, chilies, petunias, and even deadly nightshade - will be on display until Sunday 2nd September

There will be a series of talks - Tomato Tales- amongst the speakers will be tomato addict Nicky Kyle, and Director of the Gardens Matthew Jebb.

Ukulele Hooley

When: Saturday 25th August - Sunday 26th August 2018
Where: Dún Laoghaire
Cost: Free

Bring the whole family along to Europe’s longest running ukulele festival for a sing-song and a dance.

The event will host a selection of workshops, open mike sessions and an amazing lineup of ukulele artists, both local and international.
