The city is preparing to welcome the Boys in Blue back to Smithfield this evening.

If you plan on donning your jersey and welcoming Jim Gavin's side, here's all you need to know about the homecoming event that's taking place:

Where is it?

The family-friendly, alcohol-free homecoming will be held in Smithfield Plaza.

What time does it take place?

The event is due to get underway at 6:30pm.

How do I get there?

Dublin City Council are urging you to use public transport to get to and from Smithfield. Commuters on the Red Line should note that the Smithfield Luas stop will be closed between 6pm and 8pm. The stops at the Four Courts and the Museum will remain open as usual.

What's the best way to get into Smithfield?

You can enter the plaza via Queen Street at Blackhall Walk or Thunder Cut Alley, via North King Street at Smithfield Terrace or via Bow Street at Friary Avenue.

Dubliners heading to the event are asked to follow the signage and stewards' instructions. You can check out the area map here.

Motorists travelling in that region are advised to expect some delays.
