The go-ahead has been given for a U2 visitor centre to be built in Dublin's docklands.

Permission was granted after the band agreed to significantly reduce the height of the building at Grand Canal Dock.

The developer has also promised to pay almost a quarter of a million euro towards public infrastructure and Luas works.

Decision Granted

Dublin City Council said that the development "will upgrade one of the most prominent locations in the city".

Planning bosses agreed it will "contribute to the animation of the area".

They also said it will allow for "striking and innovative" building" in the inner city.

The report said the proposed development "would not seriously injure existing buildings or surrounding location".
