Spoilers ahead

Peaky Blinders fans are racking their brains over the identity of "the grey man".

On Sunday, viewers watched Tommy Shelby's daughter Ruby as her strange flu-like illness take hold again.

Sat by the fire, Ruby told her mother she could hear "voices" coming from the chimney and warned of "the grey man", who she claimed was coming to get her and her father, Tommy.

Michael Gray

Most fan theories currently point to Michael Gray - following the death of his mother, Polly Gray, Michael vowed revenge on Tommy Shelby, who he blames for her death.

Michael is now also aware that Tommy reported him to the police, resulting in his arrest.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Steven Knight previously said of Tommy and Michael: “I can't tell you [specifics about their relationship] but I'm sure you could imagine. It's not gonna go well.

"I like the complexity of what's happened with Michael, where he was plucked from this village, but he wanted to be plucked, he wanted to get out. And he's become Tommy and he admires Tommy [and] wants Tommy's approval, but he wants to kill him as well."

Sir Oswald Mosley

However, other fans reckon the grey man could be fascist politician Sir Oswald Mosley.

After his failed attempt at assassinating Mosley last season, Tommy now hopes that by cutting deals with the fascists he can bring them down like his Aunt Polly would have wanted.

However, Mosley is not an easy enemy to defeat and the added addition of his calculating future wife Lady Diana Mitford further complicates matters.

Tommy Shelby himself

It's possible that the grey man could also be Tommy Shelby himself.

Throughout these final episodes, Tommy has been referred to as the “devil”, including by Michael Gray.

Throughout her visions, Ruby repeated the Romani phrase “tickna mora o'beng”, which points to demonic and deadly omens.

Tommy remains haunted by his own demons and ghosts from the past - such as the Prussian boy and his late wife Grace Shelby.

Peaky Blinders airs on Sundays at 9pm on BBC One.
