Dublin ladies footballer Sinead Goldrick is hoping more will be done to address inequality in sport in Ireland.
The versatile Dubs player believes that ladies footballers are not treated fairly in terms of the resources allocated to them, compared to that their male counter-parts. That's despite putting in as much time and effort.
Speaking in a recent interview in the Sunday Independent, Mayo footballer Sarah Rowe highlighted the problems faced by Ladies GAA teams.
She revealed details of their plight, including training on a half lit pitch with only two floodlights, a lack of hot meals after training and little or no access to gyms.
Lidl have come on board and their sponsorship of women’s football has been welcomed by Goldrick.
A new TV ad produced by Lidl and designed to highlight the talent, commitment and passion of the players has been well received by players, fans and pundits.
Goldrick hopes that others will join Lidl in supporting ladies footballers, she believes players are being deprived of basic amenities afforded to their male counterparts.
She believes the time, effort and commitments mirrors that of the men, and is hoping players will soon receive access to gyms, food after training and expenses for travel. Goldrick spoke to 98FM's Darren Cleary:

The nationwide campaign, which is organised by the Nutrition & Health Foundation and supported by Ibec, aims to help improve employee health through promoting better nutrition and exercise in workplaces.
