Wales manager Ryan Giggs will go on trial at Manchester Crown Court in January accused of assaulting and coercively controlling his ex-girlfriend.

The former Manchester United midfielder appeared in court on Friday morning for a pre-trial hearing.

It is alleged that Giggs assaulted Kate Greville and caused her actual bodily harm at his home in November 2020.

The 47-year-old is also accused of controlling and coercive behaviour between December 2017 and November 2020.

He has also been charged with common assault by beating of Ms Greville's younger sister, Emma Greville, in the alleged same incident, which he also denies.

Giggs will face trial at Manchester Crown Court on January 24th and was told the trial could last three weeks.

He denies all allegations and previously issued a statement saying he looked forward to "clearing his name".

The Football Association of Wales (FAW) announced earlier this year that Robert Page will manage the national team at this summer's European Championship.
