West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has warned new signing James McClean about his conduct.

It comes after the Republic of Ireland international turned his back on the English flag during the national anthem prior to a match on the club's US tour.

The Derry born winger turned away from the Cross of St George and bowed his head during the pre-match ceremony before Albion's 2-1 pre-season win against Charleston Battery in South Carolina.

The incident has left some English supporters upset with what they feel was a disrespecful snub of their flag. Tony Pulis confirmed he spoke to McClean after it was brought to his attention.

"We've got Northern Ireland lads in the squad and he's been absolutely fantastic with them, and the way he's mixed and integrated with the group has been brilliant.

"I've seen the pictures and he's got to turn towards the flag like everybody else has and he recognises that. I had a chat with him and explained what we do as a football club and the way we are and I think he's fine with everything"
