Thierry Henry has announced his retirement from football.

The French and Arsenal legend is to become a pundit with Sky Sports.

There had been speculation he may quit, having announced his decision not to stay on with New York Red Bulls at the end of the season.

Henry retires with 35 major honours to his name, including the World Cup and European Championship with France in 1998 and 2000, two Premier League titles with Arsenal and the treble with Barcelona in 2009.

He is also both Arsenal’s and France’s record goalscorer.

Henry says “I’ve been fortunate enough to have had an amazing playing career with many incredible memories”.

The Frenchman isn’t remembered fondly in these parts, after his infamous handball helped stop Ireland getting to the World Cup in 2010.
