The Irish Shone brightly at this years Dublin Marathon

Sean Hehir has become the first Irishman in 20 years to win the Dublin Marathon.

The Clareman finished the race in a time of 2 hours, 18 minutes and 21 seconds, seeing off Dubliner Joe Sweeney who finished in the runner up position.

Maria McCambridge became the first Irish athlete to win the women's race since Sonia O'Sullivan back in 2000, finishing in a time of 2 hours and 38 minutes.

Mens winner Hehir says he is delighted with the reception he got:

But it wasn't all about the winners- with record numbers taking part in todays Marathon.

14,500 brave souls took on the challenge and were happy when they made it to the finish line;

Meanwhile, A man remains in hospital this evening after collapsing during today Dublin Marathon.

The man, in his 20's was treated at the scene of the race before being removed to St Vincents hospital by Ambulance.

The medical team are monitoring his condition.
