It would seem that there is a burgeoning sprint factory in Ireland, which is bagging medals at an impressive rate.
The latest sprinter to step onto a podium is Tallaght athlete Rhasidat Adekele who claimed a fourth medal for Team Ireland at the European Youth Olympics Festival today.
The 14-year-old won silver in the 200 metre final in Győr in Hungary in a time of 23.81 and just seven-hundreths of a second behind the winner from the Netherlands.
Adekele's silver win comes hot on the heels of Patience Jumbo-Gula's bronze medal success in the 100 metre final yesterday.
And just last week, there was a gold medal win at the European U-20 Athletics Championships for Gina Akpe-Moses from Louth.
Meanwhile back in GyÅ‘r, Lara Gillespie secured silver in the Girls Cycling Time Trial yesterday, and Ireland’s medal haul to date is completed by Cavan’s Jade Williams who won bronze in the Hammer on Tuesday.
