Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says it would be "special day" if his son Noah made his senior debut for Kristiansund BK in a pre-season friendly against the Red Devils.

Solskjaer's men take on the Norwegian side at the Ullevaal Stadion at six o'clock on Tuesday, with his 19-year old named in the opposition's side.

Manchester United have so far won all four of their pre-season games including matches against Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking ahead of the game in Oslo, 46-year-old Ole Gunnar who was born in Kristiansund said to ManUtd.com, "of course, it’s special for him that he’s been training with the first team for the last couple of weeks, he’s just been promoted. He’s had a tough couple of years with operations so he’s getting there,

“Every year for the last 15 years they’ve bettered their results and gone on, they’ve got higher and higher. They’ve got to get to third or fourth this season to keep that run going so that’s quite an achievement.  I think this is a special day for everyone. All their players will be looking forward to this as if it’s Christmas Eve.”

His son Noah said in the run-up to the clash that his role model is Michael Carrick, who is his father's current first-team coach at the Red Devils. He has made 13 appearances so far for the Kristiansund B team.

When asked what he would do if his son score, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said, “well done to him but we’ll do as much as we can to stop him.”

Manchester United have one pre-season game left after the meeting in Norway - the team will travel to Cardiff on August 3rd to take on AC Milan in the International Champions Cup. The Red Devils start their Premier League campaign at home to Chelsea on August 11th.
