STEPHEN DOYLE IN VIENNA
Irish assistant boss Roy Keane believes that Harry Arter is revved up to make his first competitive appearance with the Boys in Green.
It's been a long time coming for the Bournemouth midfielder who made his debut in a friendly against England last year but various injuries have scuppered his chances of earning his first competitive cap.
Thankfully Arter ignored the, what he called "vile", messages that he received on social media when ridiculous rumours surfaced online claiming he was ready to turn his back on Ireland to declare for England.
The story grew legs last month around the last pair of World Cup qualifiers, despite the lack of facts to back it up and the quotes from the player himself speaking after sustaining the injury that ruled him out of those games.
With James McCarthy out of tomorrow night's clash with Austria and the possibility of Robbie Brady moving to left-back to fill in for Stephen Ward, also injured, opportunity knocks for Arter.
Roy Keane spoke to 98FM Sport's Stephen Doyle about Arter's chances but first about the possibility of gaining points in Vienna
