Troy Parrott will remain with the Republic of Ireland squad for Monday's European Championship qualifier with Denmark at the Aviva Stadium.

Meanwhile, Mick McCarthy has confirmed that Derrick Williams sustained a calf injury during the 3-1 win over New Zealand.

The Blackburn defender, who scored his first international goal on Thursday, has returned to his club for treatment.

McCarthy told FAI.ie: "Derrick felt his calf in the second half of the game and our medical team have assessed him today.

"He will go back to his club now and we wish him well. He was one of our best players on Thursday night and deserved his goal."

Lee O’Connor has returned to the Ireland Under-21 squad ahead of their qualifier against Sweden in Tallaght on Tuesday.

The Celtic defender was suspended for the under 21's game away to Armenia but impressed McCarthy on his senior debut.

"Lee had a really good debut, I was impressed with him and I’ve told him to be very proud of how he played."

McCarthy has no plans to add to his 25-man squad ahead of Monday's game at the Aviva.

It means Tottenham striker Troy Parrott will remain with the senior squad after making his debut against New Zealand.
