Sean O’Brien has signed a new contract with the IRFU which will keep him at Leinster. It also brings an end to the speculation that he would be moving to Toulon. Despite strong interest from the European champions, the 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that is expected to keep him with Leinster until 2016 but full details are yet to be confirmed. O’Brien went to Toulon last weekend to watch them against Cardiff Blues but a fresh offer from the IRFU yesterday has persuaded him to remain in Ireland. The union are still in negotiations with Jamie Heaslip, Paul O’Connell and Keith Earls. O’Brien is currently recovering from shoulder surgery that has ruled him out of the Six Nations this year.
