Brian Fenton did not waste any time in cementing his place back in the Dublin midfield after missing the opening stages of this year's Allianz Football League campaign.
The lanky Raheny club man had a shoulder operation over the winter break which meant that he only returned, as a sub, in the third league match, against Monaghan.
Since then, Fenton has started every game and has completed the full 70 minutes in the last three matches, against Donegal twice and Roscommon.
Not only that, but the midfielder has looked every bit as good as he did in his maiden year with the Boys in Blue last year, culminating in his man-of-the-match performance in the All-Ireland final win against Kerry.
It is never easy for any player to avoid second season syndrome after their breakthrough year, as defender Jack McCaffrey well knows after he won the 2013 Young Footballer of the Year award.
2014 was not a good year for the Clontarf man who struggled to replicate the form he displayed in the previous year as the Dubs claimed their first All-Ireland win under Jim Gavin.
The Dubs boss was asked if he has been impressed with Fenton's form so far this year
Meanwhile Gavin has confirmed that one of his other midfielders is back training with the squad after a great start to 2016 with his club.
The manager stopped short of confirming a playing return date for club All-Ireland winner with Ballyboden St Endas' Michael Darragh Macauley
