Newcastle will seek permission from the Premier League to sign a goalkeeper on emergency loan.
Their third-choice keeper Jak Alnwick injured his shoulder last night in their Capital One Cup defeat to Tottenham.
He played for the full game, but is a doubt for Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland.
"We will perhaps talk to the Premier League about Jak's situation." Said Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.
Alnwick is only playing because regular number one Tim Krul and number two Rob Elliot are both injured.
Krul, 26 has an ankle injury, while Irish international Elliot has a torn thigh muscle.
Their fourth choice goalkeeper is 17 year old Freddie Woodman.
