Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has confirmed that the club have offered Republic of Ireland midfielder Glenn Whelan an improved deal.
His current contract expires at the end of the season, and the Potters boss has made clear his desire to keep Whelan at the Brittania Stadium.
Whelan joined Stoke from Sheffield Wednesday in 2008 and has gone on to make 243 appearances for the club.
Stoke have reportedly offered the Dubliner a 2-year deal, and Hughes is hoping Whelan will put pen to paper soon.
