Manchester United handed nightmare Champions League draw

Manchester United have been handed the toughest draw of the Premier League sides involved in this season's Champions League.

In pot 2 for Thursday evening's draw, United were drawn in Group H alongside Paris Saint-Germain, last season's semi-finalists RB Leipzig and the Turks of Istanbul Basaksehir.

Premier League champions Liverpool were drawn in Group C with Ajax. Incredibly, it will be the first competitive meeting of the European giants since 1966.

Joining them in that group are one of last season's surprise packages Atalanta, and the Danes of Midtylland.

Pep Guardiola's fifth attempt at winning the Champions League with Manchester City will begin in Group C alongside Porto, Olympiakos and Marseille.

While Chelsea were drawn with Europa League winners Sevilla, Russia's Krasnodar, and Edouard Mendy's former side Rennes.

Holders Bayern Munich were drawn in Group A with Atletico Madrid, RB Salzburg and Lokomotiv Moscow.

And there's the tantalising proposition of two instalments of Cristiano Ronaldo v Lionel Messi in Group G. Barcelona and Juventus have been drawn together with Dynamo Kiev and Ferencvaros.
